Throughout his career, Mourinho has won 25 trophies and a winning rating of 63.76%.

Commenting on his achievement, Mourinho, who was previously inducted into the LMA Hall of Fame in 2010, said: ‘I am obviously very pleased to be reaching the milestone of 1000 matches managed this weekend, but at the same time it is always in my nature to be looking forward to the next match instead of dwelling on those precious matches that I have experienced so far in my career.

‘To be inducted into the League Managers Association 1000 Club is an achievement that I am proud of and I thank the LMA for remembering this milestone and the many matches my teams have won during this time.’

After starting out at Benfica in 2000, he had a spell in charge of Uniao de Leiria and then moved to Porto, where he remarkably won the Champions League in 2004.

Mourinho headed to Chelsea and went on to enjoy much success, winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

At Inter Milan Mourinho won the treble in the 2009-10 season. And he proceeded to win the league and the Copa del Rey during his time at Real Madrid.

He subsequently returned to Chelsea and won the league. The League Cup again prior to a spell in charge of Manchester United, with whom he won the Europa League and the League Cup.

Mourinho wasn’t able to win any trophies in charge of Tottenham and is now managing Roma. He has won all four matches in charge so far.
